Cumbria Domestic Abuse Partnership holds the first Domestic Abuse conference in over a decade

The Castle Green Hotel in Kendal hosted the Cumbria Domestic Abuse conference on Monday 15th of July.

Cumbria Domestic Abuse partnership came together for Cumbria's first Domestic abuse conference in over a decade.

Over 200 Survivors, Professionals and Policy makers from across the sector, increased their knowledge and understanding of the risks and barriers faced by survivors and victims of domestic abuse. 

The conference included survivors Rachel Williams and Luke Hart and expert speakers Prof Jane Monckton Smith, Dr Sue Haile, Bride Anderson and Mary-Claire Telford. 

The day was warmly received by all attendees who described the event as a great success, including Cumberland council, Safety Net UK, Victim Support, The office of the police, fire and crime commissioner and Stand up to Domestic Abuse (SUTDA)

Mary-Claire Telford, Cumberland council's strategic lead for domestic abuse said "No single agency can tackle Domestic abuse. It takes a coordinated community response. Together we can all make a difference for victims, survivors and their families".
